Day 101: REUSE exhibition

Teddy pitches his concept...

Cupplite
Teddy B.

All day long in our fast-paced modern world, coffee gets poured into foam cups. Double-decker mega-burgers get plopped into foam clamshells. Restaurant leftovers get put into “doggie bags”—usually foam food containers.

Most foam cups and containers are made out of polystyrene, and therein lies the rubber biscuit. The basic chemical component of the material (styrene) has the potential to leach into your food and then into you.

Scarey, no? I suggest you get you’re own take-away mugs when ordering your next coffee and ask them to fill it up in that. This way, you’d be saving them the cost of buying cups, they’d sell their funky coffee containers for triple the price, and you save the environment since this material is not boiodegradable.

Cupplite was initially designed as my shelter, but since I’m small in size in comparison to your average human I decided to convert it into a light. It is made out of foam and plastic cups because aesthitically they are beautifully designed. The light diffuses through the foam to create a dispersing glow, and shines through the plastic for a more directional effect.

This light is best enjoyed in a corner of a room, in complete darkness.

P.S: The bulb is an energy saver, saving 80% of what a normal bulb would use.

Simple but creative concept .. as I am seeing a Sci-Fi movie ..
Love it but, 7asafa, can't offer 300 K.D for it :/
Hope it will be sold during the event ..

Reproach: I thought I will see you Teddy, but as usual, you were away !!
Maybe you felt hungry & went to dine in the avenues restaurants :p
My advise is "you should be available, like your colleagues in the exhibition, nearby your project welcoming the interested guests & answering their questions ! Stop being SHY" .. Trak 7arraitny ;)

Sorry BruTus a few of my friends grabbed me and took me around. I was being passed on from one place to the other so I decided to stick to the creative project manager of the event and she kept bringing my back and forth to my light. Plus I couldn't get away from the cookies and food! I'll make more of an appearance tonight.

This has manifested brilliantly. An extremely intelligent use of an easily discarded and forgettable material. Well done, you should be very proud of yourself because I am very proud of you :)
