Day 111

Teddy attempts homemade sushi...
... But first he has to catch the fish.

Have you guys noticed the fishing gear shop right next to where Falafel & Co. used to be? Have you ever noticed the old man who sits there almost everyday watching his old TV, surrounded by spools, hooks, anchors and his 3 man entourage? Well I went there today because I wanted to start a new hobby and saw a For Sale sign on his door. He's selling the place for 160K (so he says) which I think is a shame. This shop is cluttered with his own memorabilia, personal belongings, leather office chair and wooden TV for god's sake. It's upsetting to know he's selling it, especially knowing the type of shops on The Strip. What made this place beautiful was that in between the hip Exhibition and Slider Station is a Gun Shop and a Fishing Shop. It was the best of both worlds, it was modern yet traditional...

Maybe it's the crisis, or he needs the money, but I want him to stay along with everything else in his shop.

That's a loss, i mean look at all the new trend shops and stuff, what is he doing is something that he should be doing until the last day of his life

so true, teddy! his shop gives the area a sense of kuwaiti culture and history amidst the original and brilliant ventures created by young kuwaiti men and women. i applaud their efforts, but also would like to see this shop stay to keep that old kuwait vibe alive, especially for the younger generations.

I can not blame him!!
Those old traditional people are shocked with the huge evolution.. Their World ,which they used to live in, has been changed totally..
They are depressed and feeling as they are stranger!!
Let me simplify it.. Here is an example with no OFFENCE ..
"This old man NEVER EVER thought or EVEN dream once that one day a (( toy bear )) will visit his shop seeking fishing equipments to catch some fresh fish for (( SUSHI ))" !!!

BruTus you think? I don't know I'm sure Teddy bears have been visiting shops way longer than I have. Maybe not to buy equipment to make sushi.... you have a point there.

Sad to hear that. It's places and characters like these which define Kuwait.
